Help ID my blue acara/green terror

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say female GT, from the fuzzy pics it looks like my female did when she was stressed a bit a faded out (or the lights or flash faded her color)

Here is a pic of my female gt at 4 inches, she is a proven female. Her teardrop under her eye is light in the photo but will darken when breeding.

that is exactly what my fish looks like. i have recently redecorated and done a water change within the tank so it was probably stress that has faded her.

Ill be honest, and Im no expert, but your does look a bit different then all of mine. Blue acaras seem like cool fish too though!

finally got my GT, and what a stunner he is. At a little over 2" he is very colourful. What do you guys think?

Beautiful GT. Looks male to me, however difficult to tell at this age.

Very nice male! I raised mine together from the 2-3 inch mark and they never fought. I have seen some meaner females but the males I have kept have been more laid back than I expected. How's your female doing now, has she colored up more around the male? I wouldn't expect her to gain any orange tips, like the pic of my female shows, they don't have the color the males do.

I now have 5, i purchased the above male and two smaller specemins. Trying to guarantee a pair. When i introduced the male, he fought with the two i already had, the smaller ones fought between theirselves. This continued for a couple of days. And now he is the boss of the tank, the other four are chased away when they get too close. He does shake at one of the larger ones, hitting it with his tail. All 5 of them havr coloured up dramatically, the one he shakes at in particular. However, the one he shakes at has a thick orange band on the dorsal and tail fins, and an extending dorsal fin. The three large ones are now about 3-3.5" and the small ones aboit 2.5". A drastic growth in them all. I will try upload some pictures soon
