I noticed this red “thing” on my African Pikes tail and I don’t know what it is. Can some tell me if this is dangerous? I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’ve attached some images. If anyone knows what this is please help. Thank You. 2D7B58FE-0B75-4A3F-907A-F5508001B075.jpegFB6DB498-15CD-4CCE-9EBA-419066967E46.jpegCD0575BD-727C-466C-84E3-017E4C88B997.jpeg

Can’t tell what it is from the pics. Would watch and keep the water clean.

Did it appear overnight?
I’ve noticed the red on his tail but I originally thought it was apart of his natural colors but upon closer look it kinda looks like a bruise maybe but it’s protruding out. I thought it was some kind of work maybe.

I should add that he’s eating well and seems healthy, swimming around normally. I did notice he sometimes opens and shakes his mouth, I don’t know if that’s normal behavior or not. I did have to feed him feeders originally(only acquired him a couple weeks ago), but he’s eating pellets now. Could feeders be the cause?

To me, it looks like an ectoparasite.
It should not be a major concern, unless it becomes infected, or more appear. Again, to me it does not look like a disease.
Good luck!
