Does it matter between flat black or gloss?

Flat is preferred and is what most go with. I can only assume to avoid any further reflection other than what the glass will do... it may actually be something to do with the way that dries... Gloss paint is made to smooth out easier to cause the more glossy look. Just a thought...

Does latex or oil based make a difference? I know the video recommends oil, but has anyone ever experienced the two?

Oil Base paint will be better as it will go on much nicer! You won't have to worry about orange peeling (water base paint will not stick and actually will recede when the surface being painted has any sort of oily residue on it.) while painting the tank...

Alright sweet maybe I should go buy a small can of oil based. So then it's just oil based flat black indoor paint?

Clean glass very well. Then use flat black latex paint with a roller. Give some time between coats. 4-6 coats should do the trick.

Alright cool. I bought a smaller foam roller too for the latex paint. It's covering better and it looks like I'll need a few coats.

There you go! Just take your time and make sure that each coat is not tacky at all before applying a new one...

Sounds good. I'm still running tests though. I going to run oil based paints on the two sides of my paint testing tank.

against most common methods I found that by turning over the tank with the back side facing up, so that its flat, I can spray on a super thick coat of paint, where it has no chance in beading missing any spots or beading up, and it covers everything with no problems. the only thing that such a method requires is a long time to dry.
