Hi everyone! Huuuuuge fish noob and forum noob here please bear with me. I work at a fish conservation lab at my uni and I'm concerned for this lungfish we have.
To get straight to the point we have an African lungfish who I haven't seen eat in months (we feed reptile pellets and worms which it used to happily eat) and has a sheer white film across some of its facial pores as well as the top of its head and back. 3 of his fins have also curled in on themselves. This all happened after we moved it into a larger tank which I'm guessing had some contaminated rocks or the tank wasn't cleaned properly (there used to be two turtles in it). We moved it into a new 10 gal tank filled less than halfway which I treated with methyl blue and 1/2 of a Jungle fungal tablet. It's got an air stone and heater and some rocks I've disinfected so it can hide and use to prop itself up to breathe. It's been there for about 3 days now with no difference in the affected areas. It's been coming up to the surface to breathe a lot and moves around quite a bit. Still not interested in eating. I've researched a bit and wonder if it has columnaris or a fungus of the sort? My boss (the ichthyology professor) says it has fin rot and that's why the fins are curled up.
Any advice, direction, and information on what I should do is greatly appreciated. I'm just a concerned lab technician who got incredibly attached to this cute lungfish and am willing to try and learn how to make it feel better and live a happy life.Thank you!!
-The temp of the water is around 78-79 with the heater in.
-I'll try my best to get other specs and somehow figure out how to put photos on here without it telling me I can't because I "don't have the minimum requirements to use a link" as soon as I come in early tomorrow.
-If I can edit this post later I'll add in questions people ask asap.
