I recently for a male motoro stingray, and started noticing a white edge begin to develop. It has been a few day, and I have done water changes. I've checked the water and my ammonia is 0ppm, nitrates and nitries tested as low as possible( I used an api master test kit). I don't know how to treat it because I am new to freshwater stingrays, and I didn't want to use any meds without knowing what would be safe. Any ideas on how to treat it would be great

Clean water and can add salt 1 tsp per g should be enough.

What type of salt should I use. I also have an African arowana with it, so will the salt affect it?

Whats your reading on nitrite and nitrate.
Ph? How much and how often do you change water? How big is the tank and whats the filtration? Is your heater covered?

I'll check the ph when I get home, but the nitrate and nitries were at 0. The tank is a 300 gallon, and it has an fx6 and fx4 for the filters right now. The heaters are ehiem jagers, so they don't need covers because of the special glass

Special glass? Have you touched an jaeger? Stingrays get burns from them easily. If nitrate are at 0 what are your ammonia readings then? How long have you had this tank going?

The tank has been going for about 3 weeks. The stingray has been in it for about a week

I've touches the heaters, and they haven't been hot. The description on the heaters said they didn't require a heater because they had a special lab glass. The ammonia was at 0 or .25, but I'm still iffy with reading them. The filters and sand were transfer from another tank, so the bacteria would stay alive

Well trust me they do burn rays. Rays are delicate creatures and with .25 ammonia 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate that means you have an uncycled tank. That can def kill your ray quite quick. Do you have an tank thats fullt cycled? If so move the ray and cycle this tank properly. If not you need to do 50% wc every other day and get your hands on seasoned media right away.

The filters have seasoned media. I can move the ray to a 29 gallon. I'll get some covers for the heaters asap
