Yeah, that makes since considering that swordtails can reach over 4 inches

I have a lot of options when it comes with sa and ca cichlids.

For that warm most cichlids will do good. Maybe look into an Amazon one to ensure it tolerates the temp well.
Chocolate cichlid would be very good in warm water like that and is very colorful.

They seem good, just they seem to be very stocky and I might not be able to fit dithers in.

Also, I'm going to refer to them as Uaru cichlids because I've only seen them called that before and I'm used to that name.

20 inches wide or 20 inches high?
By chocolate I mean hypselecara temporalis, rather than the typical uaru. Still stocky but able to keep dithers with it.
If you want something more slender I would go for a Jack (pair?) or RTM.
