OMG how did decipher what I said adding plants causes ammonia build up. I said adding plants helps keep ammonia from building up. Cause plants will consume this nutrient. You only think its mis-information cause you only understand what you think you read. You laugh at what I said about filteration. You only think its mechanical but its biological again you only think its silly cause things need to be explained to you in detail
again, you fail to understand what i wrote. i told you i used established media. you continue to go on a rant about tanks needing to be fully planted from the beginning, and that adding plants later adds problems. that the biggest crock of crap ive ever heard. i can add plants to a setup when and how i desire, doesnt mean i will encounter problems. ammonia buildup DOES NOT even matter in this case since i used established media

UV light used correctly should be somewhere away from your biological filter.

did you not see the UV lighting hanging inside my tank? how is that near my filter? you just earned another one of these :screwy:

We only got more info out of you after I stated 4 T5HO alone did not give your pea soup alone. Again you seem to only understand what you think you read. I never said adding plants later causes problems. I said stocking more plants from the get go is better. I guess Amano is full of crap and puts out bad info. Every tank I see him setup he loads the tank up with plants from the get go. Sure you can add plants slowly if you want its your tank. But if your going to also add fish from the get go I recommend you add more plants. Better chance you will not have an algae problem due to high nutrients alot of new tanks go through especially when fish are added from the get go.

Well I see you don't take other opinions and suggestions very well. Every tank is different and I just made a point that 4 T5HO bulbs did not give you green water alone as you interpreted it did.

all i have to say on this topic is: established filter media. that's it. amano this, ammonia that. established media trumps adding a lot of plants at the beginning. you can all argue all you want, you just sound more like a fool

you said my lighting wasnt the problem, and i said it was because nothing else changed. i dont see what else there was to discuss

i never mentioned anything else because if you read what i said earlier, i said NOTHING ELSE BESIDES THE LIGHTING CHANGED. whats so hard to understand about that? my co2 rate, my EI dosing, all that remained unchanged before and after the UV light. the only thing that changed was my lighting. anybody who knows planted tanks will tell you that 216w of T5HO lighting over a 55g will tell you that it's too much. period. end of story. there's nothing else to discuss here.
I follow the thread from the beginning. You recommend OP to T5HO. You talk about what lights you recommend and how much light you think is only needed according to your graph. Then to prove your point to him by showing us your pea soup tank and state its because you ran 4 bulbs. And when you finally pulled your head out of your butt and took 2 bulbs out your green water went away. That is what were lead to believe only happen. I didn't read anywhere before that or after that about UV lighting co2 or anything explaining why you got green water but only that 4 bulbs gave you it is why you only recommend to him 2 bulbs. So your ranting about my opinions calling it mis-information is whats really laughable.

ok i admit, this is all some sick twisted conspiracy to mislead all of MFK and lie about my setups and tell the OP to get the wrong lighting for his tank. you caught me!!!

:screwy: :screwy: i dont know what youre getting at, but it's really getting annoying. you live in stockton, im in sac. freel free to come by and check out the setup im working on so you can keep a full diary of what i do. ill even show you how a filter works

No sick twisted conspiracy. Just 1 person opinion an observation that 4 T5HO bulbs did not cause your pea soup tank alone as you betrayed it did. Its not that you lied i'm sure when you took 2 bulbs out sure less light grew less algae. I'm sure your growing beautiful tanks now. Its not hard really to grow plants with good lighting and co2. I say anyone can do it. But there are some basic fundamentals that must be met or you will have a pea soup tank as you did in the beginning.
