HELP!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that tank is still new. once you see your ammonia levels drop you will see a spike in nitrites. thats normal. that bacteria will then be consumed and converted to nitrates. you can do small waterchanges to help lower your level of nitrites, but i wouldnt do a big one, because you may just be starting over again. you said its only been set up for a few weeks and that is exactly right-your ammonia levels should have dropped, and you should be in the middle of a nitrite spike right now.. a week from now youll notice a drop in that, and a rise in nitrate levels-which are the least harmful of all three.
what are you nitrite levels today? did they rise, fall or stay the same? id test your parameters every other day just to see where you are in the nitrification cycle.

just woke up and its been about 12 hours since my last water change and my nitrites are 1.6 mg/l and the fish is sorta leaning over but i cant tell if its from the params or from me just suddenly turning my room light and walking over

i have stopped all vacuuming now i have been doing 2 50% water changes in a row twice a day to bring it down to safe levels

do you know anyone who has an established tank that you could seed yours from? that would help tremendously-or get some of that "cycle" stuff...

ok so iv been continuing with the water changes and since i did the last water change i have had an alge ploom its wierd looking like white webs on the piece of wood and a little bit on the glass.. what is going onnnnn????

I wouldn't do more than a 20% water change once a day. You're just prolonging the cycling. Add Prime each day to mitigate the toxicity. Talk to your lfs and see if they will give you some goop from one of their filters to add to your tank to speed the process along. Good luck.

i added my eheim pro to the tank in hopes that more filtration and more oxygen and circulation will help out fingers crossed
