Umm..Can I interject a question...Why do you advise against using meds? Is it because there is a chance of creating a "Super Ich" that is antibiotic resistant?

No. Sorry. But I guess that answers the question. lol. I actually haven't ventured into FW at all. I bought a friend's salt tank and am figuring that out at the moment. I have a list of FW fish I'd like to have a shot at someday and do like cichla, so I'll just shut up and pay attention. :D

BTW, best of luck to your lovelies, OP.

^ Doesnt matter.... Anything is better than nothing IMO

Don't add the meds just listen to what they are saying temp and salt... It works wonders it is your safest bet.

What are your water parameters like?

If you don't have aquarium salt you can use canning/pickling salt from the grocery store. It is the same thing and a lot cheaper.

WHOA...Treat them right away don't wait.

I would do a 90 percent water change, clean and change filter and filter pads, add sea salt, and increase temp. If that does not help go get some ich treatment.

GOOD LUCK!
