Good job not taking sides!

Again, putting words in our mouths. No one disputes that Ira is a good guy and well-intentioned. Heck, my intent in some threads has been to "out" my LFS. What's that got to do with Ira?

There ARE some common elements in these dicsussions though: the inability to get a straight answer from some people without any delay, a huge helping of defensiveness from some respondents, and the original source being DCT (and many of us have been keeping DCT fish for years to decades; don't tell us to ignore our experiences).

It's the defensiveness that causes all you guys to get so stirred up and emotional. Someone posts his wild bocourti, and I comment about how rare they are in nature yet they are available for purchase (even in my lfs!). My point was to underscore the IRONY of that situation (it is the same with Madagascan and many other species). Somehow you all interpret that as some affront. That's not my problem...

Also, as I indicated in another thread in response to a similar comment, you need to do some better comparison shopping before making sweeping statements about the prices of other MFK vendors. Say whatever you want, but your comments about prices just aren't true.

Bottom line the fish that I mention , were questioned like I said by you and the others chris. and how are you trying to out your fish store when you stay in it and tell the guy what to bring in, I mean what type of customer are you? You buy fish from them and then dog them , I don't get it.
All his fish raise question from a select few thats all I'm saying chris, I'am I right or wrong about that?

Saying "bottom line" doesn't make it true.

What type of customer am I? A cautious and experienced one (as opposed to a gullible one). I'll hug the owner once he stops charging $ for fish. Don't get things confused. Sellers are SELLING something. It's not about friendships!

Honestly, I don't know what your last question is. Please rephrase it. If you mean all of Ira's fish are in question, I wouldn't agree with that. If you mean SOME of DCT fish, then I would definitely agree with that.

If DCT is collecting and exporting a large volume of wild fish from Costa Rica (Rio Naranjo JDs) and Laguna Catemaco... and exclusively from a place called Laguna Vontehillo...then (at least some) prospective customers want to have assurance that he's actually collecting these places (not easy for a variety of reasons)...

Scrutiny isn't unique to this list. Talk to anyone who sells a lot of wild fish and you'll find that there are a lot of questions...that need to be answered before many customers will buy...

I'm not taking any sides but, from what I see constantly is every fish IRA post it seems to bring more negative attention then any other fish sold by any other vendor, think about it , The Godmani, The Boucorti, The Jack dempseys, The piebald catemaco, The conkelii Catemaco, yellow labridens, ETC. the list goes on , nobody or other Vendor faces this much scrutiny about his fish, and it's from Three members constantly cchhcc, reverse, dogowar. Why does every fish he sells raise question when the quality is next none and he sells fish for an affordable price which is good for all of us. Ira is one of the few vendors who doesn't keep wild pairs and F1 us to death for wild prices, because they can't collect on a scale that DCT can. It's just ludacris if you ask me:confused:

I have NEVER asked my LFS to get anything for me from DCT. They were ordering from DCT for years before I moved to the area (in spite of what Don claimed on this site a year ago, only to reverse himself later).

If you are so concerned about Ira and my LFS, do the research yourself. I'd think Ira would have already done it himself. Seems like the smart thing to do.

Heck, DC was hawking this and a couple of other threads just the other night (the same night Paul got banned....again). I asked him to contribute, but he chose NOT to.

What is there to hide? Where is Vontehillo? That's what this thread is about. Prove that it's a legitimate collection site with a legitimate race of carpintis and the issue is over. It really is a simple question. As I indicated before, all the delaying and defensiveness just raises more red flags.

Prediction: Vontehillo will "turn out" to be a little know area in Mexico. The name will either be a local term or a name coined by the "collector".......neither of which can be confirmed of course.

The questions I posed about about collection locations are legit.

As sellers and purchasers of these fish, I'm not sure why Ira, caribe, etc don't want them answered as well.

A pretty fish that is what it's supposed to be sure beats a pretty fish of questionable origin (to me at least)...

If all of these collection locations are in question then why not just email or call Don to clear all this up. Beating this dead horse on this forum is not going to get you the answer no matter how many times it comes up.

I have talked and emailed back and forth with Don several times and he has always been friendly and very helpful. Also very forth coming with any information that he has on a particular fish. It is very possible that the collection locations are local names not mapped or even named by the collectors themselves when the fish were collected if a name for the river/stream was not already known.

Laguna Loco, Rio Racoon...........that is the location of the Carpintis Armac Edinburg, while collecting there you must tomar mucho Doz Equis, por favor.
