The fish is a very nice looking Carpinte variant. I sent some of the photos to Juan Miguel Artigas Azas, owner of the CRC and arguably one of the world authorities on the ednemic fish species of Mexico...and primarily the Hericthys complex. I asked if he was familiar with the fish or the collection locale. He was not aware of either. I think the suggestion of asking Don is a good idea. Perhaps he can clear up any questions folks have on this very nice looking Carpinte.

As the guy whose purchased a lot of his fish (through Ira), why don't you have the same questions as Chris, me, and others?

100% faith that what you bought is legit?

you are so right thats exactly what i'm saying call Conkels, and thats your answer

I had problems with a Wal Mart purchase, I tried to call Sam Walton, they said he had died. What do I do now?

Ira, get DON CONKEL to answer the questions here on MFK. It would be the easiest way to get it from the horse's mouth. Perhaps some of the problems have been that which is lost in translation from one person to another.

DC should come here again and explain. No need for him to answer dozens of emails!

It would seem in your best interests, Ira, to get him to do that. Heck, it would be in his best interests too.

Okay, guys, break it! We've instigated matters long enough. I've received complaints of this continuous interrogations over the origins of this fish. Can we please tone that down now? Thanks.

So was the OP at fault for asking?

Absolutely not. The point is some of you kept making your comments or queries rather personal when it should not be. A mature discussion does not involve sniping at someone because you disagree with him.

I agree. Don shouldn't have to come here "to answer questions". He's been in the hobby for many more years than most. I'm certain that if invited he would be happy to help educate folks on the collection locale.

Let's keep it friendly. We're all here to enjoy the hobby and learn. Up until a few years back no one was talking about the Parachromis collected in La Cieba. Benefit of the doubt on the Carpinte and hopefully a dose of education from the guy who collected it.

Peace.

Mo
