you know, some people have a lot of good advice.
post count means nothing. It doesn't say anything about your knowledge or experience in any way. Imo.

Good point. GL with your fish.

then leave the thread. I had two of these in a 50 and with a bunch of other fish and they did fine, grew very SLOW way longer then 3 months to hit even close to 3 inches. Just run the tank and make the decision to upgrade IF they do get big. Mine stayed small for a while. Youll be fine just run it they are around 4 " fish you dont need a frig-gen 60 gallon. Just run it and see what happens.......

Well nobody said anything about a 60 gallon tank as a recommendation. Also, "Just run it and see what happens......" is about the worst advice any could give.

and my tank isnt even that bad... you guys should take a look at "show your overstocked aquarium" thread

Over half that thread are statements NOT supporting or condoning "overstocking" You will have time to see how big he will grow anyway. He will do fine in there for a while with the potential that he could outgrow the tank. Only time will tell.

they will not live in a 5 gal bowl they get over 6 inches my friend has one that eats rosy red minnows mine is 1 inch and eats very small crickets it will need a 40 gal tank mine is in a 20 gal but i have a 55 he will go in when he gets bigger

i hope i have answered your question

i would agree with 30 gallon minimum for these guys,Mine got 6 inchs in about 1 year and I had two thrive out in the open in my 90 gallon.
But you do your think and I guess there is always time to reconsider or upgrade his tank size.IMO a 14 is to small but its your fish so with all the advice given already it's really up to you.

-Carlos
