high grade super red with drop eye..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"King Aros" have that signature hunch and are considered collectable by some. It's a oddity. It's natural occurring "defect". There is no better or less as such. A spoon shape Red Aro is the widely accepted standard. The "King" in a competition setting for example would be classified into the Special category. Google "King Arowana" and the difference will be very apparent.

thank you so much for the info.. :)

i understand for tanning arowana we need a light with UV A spectrum.. so does a 20,000K HPL LED light emits UV? can it be used for tanning?

this type of LED HPL light that im talkin about.. many people use it for tanning.. but im not too sure if it really works or not

So i got my super red aro about 1 week ago but it wasnt an easy decision to get him..

i had to make a choice when selecting the red aro directly from the farm.

there was one nice aro with decent body color, but it had a "normal" body shape.. well just like everyday red aro if u know what i mean.. no spoon head, long body.. u know.

then there was this guy.. he got a grade 1 body shape.. spoon head, short and tight body..but.. it has a little/mild eye drop.. you tell me how bad the eye drop is..

later, i decided to get the eye drop aro, because of its body shape, i hope i didnt make a bad choice.. what i had in mind when i was making my decision that drop eye is a common problem with arowana, so if i chose the "all normal", with "common everyday" body shape one, one day it could also get a drop eye.. eventho the chance is 50-50..

so i hope i didnt make a wrong call...
please let me know what decisio you would make if you were in my shoes.. :)

from the left side, he is just like a contest super red

but from the right side, you can see he has a drop eye.. how bad it is? you tell me.. i say it is a small drop eye, or a little mild drop eye..what you say??

I can u tell this, even with the drop eye u made the right choice.. I would went with the nice body than a everyday red aro body.
Thumbs up!! She's a beauty

also other than carrots, what food should i feed my crickets to gutload them??...

i want to feed my aro once a day with 10crickets in one meal..is that enough?

first off let me say, nice looking Red you have there, what farm did you get it from ?
Drop eye is due to the fact that the Asian Aro has fat deposits in behind their eyes, it is very hard to get it to go away once it has happened. It really depends on what you plan on doing with it. If your whole plan is to re sell it when its large for big$$$ then you might want to try the ping pong ball trick to get it to look up more but realistically its never going to fully go away. I have heard of people feeding very lean diets and also putting power heads in the tank to act as a Aro tread mill to get it to burn some of the fat off. My super red has some drop eye on his one side but its not very bad and i plan on keeping him forever so it does not bug me. the drop eye on your fish is fairly severe for a fish his age to be honest. either way its still a beautiful fish so you did not make a wrong choice

now i feed him 10crickets in one meal once a day.. is that too much or too little feeding?

Any UVB/UVA light will "tan" the Aro, i use a zoo med UV 10.0 T5 setup and it seems to be working to bring in the color on his back
i decided to get 4 arcadia uv tanning light.. i am gonna do top tanning only.. i like the look of dark black on red aro back, especially with his body shape.. i dont really like the look of plain red on super red.. the black color it what makes it like a monster IMO
