I actually disagree with the statement that every should be trained. I think everyone needs to know how to operate a weapon safely but not every one needs to be trained like a SWAT member to be able to effectivly defend off a bad guy with a gun.

I mean trained in how to operate a firearm and how to handle one safely.. I'm not saying to be certified by the local PD as a SWAT member in CQB tactics...This would be rather silly....

The NRA provides a variety of classes at minimal expense which any firearm owner can benifit from.

I don't see anything about penetration after going through a side of beef...Which would more accurately represent an aimed shot rather than a miss... Anyhow interesting...

Certainly makes me more likely to use my 45 / 70 sharps though

i believe the reason why shotguns are more popular is purely price, and most people are more familiar with shotguns than tactical rifles
