i just picked up six the other day and already two of them have paired up, and this is at just over and inch

Well, it looks like he picked a girlfriend and they are looking for a good spot to lay. I guess it won't be long...

This is my tank set up. The pair is about 1/3 of the way across the tank between the slate and lava rock.

Wow! The red in the female is stunning! Mine never got that red. My pair hang out together, but don't seem to be "doing the deed". Maybe they're too evenly matched - The female was full grown when I introduced the male, and he's just caught up to her in size and strength. She's pretty much ripped his lips off at this point , but they have some titanic struggles together!

Those are such cool looking fish. Great coloration. Thats awesome that they paired up all ready. Good luck.
