With the recent flooding of the market with Beani I was wondering if people are having luck with them or are they dying off like they were when they were plentiful in the early 90's? Feel free to post pics or just update how yours are doing.

I had ordered 8 from Dan, and all but one died of bloat. Also my fault, as I was neglecting them due to some family issues.

I bought 1 from rapps and it was mean and healthy. Then I got rid of it because it was so mean.

I just picked up a group at 1". Hoping for luck.

Wishing you luck . Mine were doing great, and growing rapidly when I was doing 15% wc every other day, and only feeding once in the morning. A week and a half without a wc= dead beani :irked:.

Nemesis, unfortunately that sounds like the M.O. with this fish. You get lax for even a week and it's over. I've lost many fish that way. Now I have a twice a week system that seems to work. SEEMS. Let's see if I can keep my Bartoni alive.

Got 3 off craigslist, 1 from a lfs. All were about 1.5 - 2" and died of bloat 3 weeks later.

Maybe if I just got one (so it was stress free), fed it super high quantities of fiber...it might have made it.

With some fish you can get away with that, others- not a chance. Either way I'm sure our fish don't appreciate the neglect one bit even if they're able to bounce back from it.
