Luckily my now girl friend loves it, she loves my 210 and 220, she likes it so much i bought her a 20 gallon long for a grow out, but the onlyway i got my ex into it was showing her fish and found out she liked salt water tank so i bought her one and set it up for her. pretty much just get find her something she likes and start from there,

Yeah, my GF only likes lunar wrasses. I'm hestitant to set up a SW setup because she always says she wants crap and then ignores it after a few days.

lol from expirience with my last relationship, if your spouseisnt into it dont force her, just try and show her some cool stuff and "pretty" fish and hope she gets into it, if not, just ask for the respect of supporting your hobby, cant do much more than that.... GL, just keep in mind you shouldnt give up your hobby totaly for her and she shouldnt ask that aof you..... youll be fine ....

Couldnt have said it better myself.

Encourage her with her hobbies. If saving money is her hobby you can support that without giving up your hobby.
My husband and I both have our own things we like but the other does not. We support each other and lesson when we talk even if we don't understand or really care.
It works.
He supports and even helps me with my tanks. I deal with his xbox and his sports. I even bought him his 360.
Maybe when you buy a tank make sure you have enough to buy her something special or give her for saving.
You can make anyone like something they have no interest in.
Also don't marry her till you all work this out.

yea mine liked angels, and a bunch of tangs, so we got her a 55 and now im still helpin my ex and have to get a her a 125 in a little to house them all since all the fish are still small, but my gf now just loves all my big fish and her fish are the grow out fish we got her little bass, and she is like can we get feeders or i think they need more food or different types and etc, its great glad my gf loves my fish cause me ex was a pain till i got her her salt water tank.

I'm going to play devil's advocate because everyone on here is only going to give you the pro fish addiction response. It's your girlfriend’s house. You seem to be filling it with tanks that she doesn't necessarily want. I don't know all the details of your situation, but I can see your hobby causing problems for your relationship. Apparently she has agreed to put a roof over your head, but did she also agree to housing your collection of fish tanks?

Sounds like you like finding deals on cheap tanks (who doesn't). I would inspect these tanks very carefully before buying. Sometimes you can find tanks for cheap because they are total junk. If one of your tanks fails, she could pull the plug on your entire operation.

If you were covering half the mortgage payment, then maybe you'd have a leg to stand on, but otherwise you need to respect that it's her house.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to be a joy kill...just giving you a difference perspective.

my wife just recently got kinda into it. i just showed her tons of fish. she found some she likes and it has gone from there

My wife is afraid of fish!

But after I set up the new tank and my Midas would always come looking for food when she was around, she quickly warmed up to him and feeds him when I'm at work. She will even play with him, having him follow her finger around the glass. Of course this led to her taking over when it came time to name him. So instead of a macho or cool name for my brute she called him "Fin", short for "Mr. Fintastic". (His fin along his back is white, so it looks kind of like a Mohawk; the name fits)

She has liked the fish so much that it was not even an issue when I told her that he needed a bigger home. My 65g (36x18 breeder base size) now became the grow out tank and I am in the process of setting up his permanent home a 120g (60x18x26).

So sometimes its not even a thing you do to get her into it, sometimes the fish itself will just pull her heartstrings when it swims up to the tank with the "feed me" dance they like to do.
