I actually had somebody contact me on here cause of my posted interest in fly river turtles, who of course had no post history outside of one or two comments about said turtles. I was near 100% confident that it was either a scam or a sting attempt (frankly the former seems more likely), and when I wrote back saying that I'd need to know the animal's history and that I wasn't willing to run afoul of the law over a turtle, I never heard back. Shocking!

Were are a bunch of criminals around here lol but I guess there doing there job. And there is a problem in our country and really I'm all for protecting our wild life for sure. I have alway been a hunter and fishermen my whole life I just like to be a smart ass sometimes.

Lacey Act. Federal Law for transporting illegal species across state lines carries a maximum penalty of up to $250,000 and 5 years in jail for an individual, $500,000 and 5 years if you're an organization. I'd say they're pretty serious about it. Each state law varies, Maryland is a few thousand dollar fine and up to 90 days jail time, per offense.

Not. Worth. It.

Peacock bass in florida are not considered invasives. They are intentionally stocked by USFW as a sportfish and for invasive species control. Their high temp requirements keep them in the southern most portions of the state

Its cool that we have the peacocks in the waters and every thing I mean I'm all for it. But really its not right because there putting all these laws against these python's thatt can only live in areas that don't freeze they show on TV that they are moving north there wrong a they can't. And for the peacocks to be eatting the snakeheads I think there eatting more bluegill and other small fish before there going to go after another predator fish like a snakeheads its just stupid that the government has some of the laws that it has. So some people are illegally here should we kill them lol just joking but we do have to many laws in this country any more it sucks back in the 80s and 90s this country was way better with out all this crap
I just don't think the government should tell us how to live so much. We have to have laws but its getting out of hand

^ I agree the only real option besides keeping it would seem to be to kill it...

Since i'm guessing even for a place like a zoo, they would first need a special license or permit before they could keep and exhibit said animal... especially if its illegal because its endangered or banned in the country...

All AZA/WCF zoos and aquariums, I believe, have permits for animals that arent legal to keep in private facilities. Definitely for fish. Personally I'd call them up and say you got the fish before the law was passed and just learned that they were outlawed. Not a court-worthy defense, but it might make them less likely to try to get you in legal trouble.
