The Real Norcal
How much are you willing to spend on a fish? Where is your "whoah, that's just too much" line drawn at?

I am not trying to separate the "ballers" from the "average" or anything like that, just curious.

My personal limit that I would spend on one single fish right now is $500.

Obviously there are those out there that drop well over 1-2k on a single fish and then show it off with titles like "bling bling" and "$$$" as though it where something out of our reach. The reality of the situation is I could drop $3k on a single fish and not hurt because of it, but there are so many other places I would rather put that money.

So how much do you value the hobby so to speak? How much are you willing to drop on an awesome purchase before you start thinking "whoah that $2k would really beef up my home audio system" etc etc.

Well seeing as how I only have a little over a year of experience, I wouldn't want to spend more than probably $60 on a fish. Just because I would be afraid of losing an expensive fish then be out hundreds of dollars. Plus I like buying small fish and watching them grow. Most fish that I like wont run over $60 for a juvenile.

3000 would be the max I'd go. It scares me sometimes when I see 5 digit prices on asian aros. Even 6 digits at times.

i wouldnt spend more than $50 on a fish or $100 on a coral... corals grow and you can sell frags ( you cant say the same for fish)

One thing to keep in mind is that we are all at different points in our lives where some have more money than others, some are well into their careers and some are still in high school.

I once was saving up lots of money for a vacation, then a rare great fish deal came along. I said goodbye to the vacation and have never regreted it, spending four digits on the enjoyment of my fish will outlast my vacation in the long run...

20 bucks, and it would have to be an awesome fish.

I am fine as far as money in my life, but can't justify spending more than I guess $100 on a fish. I prefer to get hem small and cheap, and enjoy their growing up.
