how expensive is too expensive 4 fish?

See this is my problem as well. beer/bills come first. I am close to being comfortable in my life but realize it is my life and want to be doing things and not have to worry about my fish. Cause I worry. My fish now are my kids. I some times buy them food instead of myself. Like I said close to being comfortable.

Yeah me to and for every $ i can put into savings i think "man i cant wait to buy a house and get this 180 out os my appartment and make it a 750!"

I've been into fishkeeping for a long time, but at this point in life with kids and one on the way, and the way the economy is hitting, I couldn't afford spending more than 50 dollars on a fish these days.

The most I have ever spent is $16.95 for a L-144 Pleco. I like to buy juveniles and babies that usually sell for much less, sometimes as much as 1/5 the adult price around here. I am remodeling for a new office and fish room and will add another tank probably for African peacocks and haps. They are little more expensive around here and I will most likely end up crossing the $20 mark. I also like to buy trade-ins at a local fish store that are always less expensive than pet store fish in this area.

It sort of depends on the rarity of the fish and how bad I want it but ultimately it comes down to whatever I can slide by my wife.

Given that I am pretty po' about $120 I guess. It would have to be something really cool tho. I rather grow up juveniles as others have also stated. *To the OP* blue on blue makes my retinas burn.

I'm sorry, those are beautiful eyes, I definitely do not want to cause them any damage.

Sorry to all those hating on the blue text but I have looked at it with all the color skins and can read it just fine in each one...I don't see what the problem is really.

One thing to keep in mind is that we are all at different points in our lives where some have more money than others, some are well into their careers and some are still in high school.

I once was saving up lots of money for a vacation, then a rare great fish deal came along. I said goodbye to the vacation and have never regreted it, spending four digits on the enjoyment of my fish will outlast my vacation in the long run...
