how expensive is too expensive 4 fish?

My max would probably be $100. If it was something really hard to get, and I really wanted it... maybe $200. Anything more and my wife would kill me.
 
All the fish I would ever want to keep would never be over $100 the only thing I could see spending more money on would be a school of discus.
 
It all depends on how much money we have, but I would spend up to $500 at the moment. Go back two months and it would be well over 1k, I have an apt. now so it's lower.
 
normally not more than $100. But it really has to be something i want, like ornatipinnis, silver aro or perruno cat.
 
The most i've ever spent on a single fish is £110 and i was worried for ages about it dying, not making it home, being eaten, etc. I've got over that now and look at fish up to £250, just never bought any. £50 seems to be about my average but i'll think long and hard before even spending that. If i can find/see a bargain then it can be a bit more of an impulse buy (my 14" Perruno was £35, not even seen them at 6" here for less than £60 since)
 
The most expensive fish I bought and will buy is probably my tigrinus cat which was $200. NGT dat $100.
The LFS had a 14" tig for $330 and someone traded in their smaller one to get him.
I really wanted one bad and the the big one was too big. I knew if I waited I would be shelling out more.
I might be shelling out $100 or more to get 7" IT and NTT dats but it's what I want to complete my datnoid buying.
