Our small county (<28,000) is now in an upswing with COVID kicking in most likely due to the maskless fair crowds last week. 166 new cases since Friday. 378 active cases. Hospitalized cases down to 21 from 24 last Thursday. Good that it frees up some hospital beds for people with other problems. Too bad three people died... Hey, their body, their life, their choice to vaccinate and to mask. Who are we to say that mandates should be issued that violate their rights. They have a right to get sick and die.

That is a very small population and of course you were going to feel the effects of this more sharply. Too bad about the fair. They will probably cancel it here, as it usually starts about October 5.

Here things are holding steady at about 1 to 2 Covid deaths per day per million people.

The county hospitals are always at capacity now, but they are seeing more people with industrial and farm injuries and traffic injuries as people are going back to work.

The kids returned to school last week and today. My youngest is teaching 5th grade in a small citrus farming town 35 miles away. I don’t know what she is in for yet.

The most effective way to protect yourself unfortunately is to stay home and avoid contact with people it seems like. Just this week I have a friend that just tested positive for covid. She fyi also was vaccinated and also already tested positive back in December and got thru it the first time. This scares the crap out of me as my sons first day of school was this week also. Walgreens started selling at home covid self test kits and bought a bunch because I plan to test my kid regularly.

The immune system is a complicated thing. Unfortunately no telling what each individuals outcome is going to be, vaccinated, or not.

Well numbers have increased in 1 week by 42 new cases on the work site, with 16 being fully vaccinated. Mask mandate for all for indoors (at work) just began a couple of weeks ago.

In a city of 3.3 million, with 74% of the population with at least 1 dose of the vaccines. Keep in mind, masks started to come off in mid May, and there is no mask mandate for indoors, just a recommendation, from the local government. We've had to re-open 6 test centers as a result of demand. Here's what are case rates looked over the past year.

That is just nuts! Time to bunker down until things blow over. (as much as possible)
I agree completely. How much rights do we have? If I need my car serviced, can I demand that anyone going in my car wear a mask? ... or do I put of servicing until things are better....

Due to a major breach in my bank acct, I had to take my desk top, lap top and chromebook into a shop to be "scrubbed" No one was wearing a mask, and I felt very vulnerable walking into the place. When the owner saw me with my N95 mask on, he pulled up his neck gaiter. The other two people didn't bother. I hope my mask protected me during that brief encounter.

hasn't affected me at all...
know of 1 person that got the vid, otherwise i live my life as if it was 2018 and no pandemic is around.
I follow all protocols and wear mask when needed and wash my hands etc...
other than that i don't even think about it... Myself and family are not vaccinated and unlikely too for a virus that is 99% survivable

Well the smoke has shifted with the wind. This probably means a lot of smoke backed up north of Sacramento.

It can blow over the Sierra, or along it towards us, depending on the winds.

Or it can just sit because hot air aloft won’t let it get anywhere.

I keep oxygen. I plan to keep more. You never know . . .
