How "I" Keep My Water Clean...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I get that the amount of water taken out was accidental. But aren't you worried that water straight out of the tap will shock the fish?

i have a friend who keeps rays - has 13 in total - biggest being a 32" female orb. he changes his water every other day by emptying half his sump and filling up straight from the mains! hes had no deaths and they breed regularly... point being if it works it works.

I bet his water is a bit better than mine and without chloramine ... My water sucks unfortunately :( Has traces of ammonia and nitrate and contains chloramine :(

yea same here, R/o is a lifesaver

lol you sir have certainly failed as a fiskeeper good thing u stick to hardy fish only wouldnt wanna see you keep discus!

What does filling directly from the tap have to do with anything? I've been dealing with chloramine for the past 15 yrs, and I always fill directly from the tap, even when performing large (50-70%) water changes.
You add your water conditioner & away you go, no problem.

As far as discus, massive water changes are common practice among many discus keepers, and in SE Asia performing water changes such as what the OP did in this vid is common practice.

Did the OP remove TOO much water, yes, but from his comments he admits that & stated that he won't remove as much in the future.

And this somehow makes him a troll?

my point was that he fills from the tap and uses no conditioner! 99% of people would say thats a sure fire way to kill your fish but the rays are all perfectly healthy and huge too!
