Well I started a fishless cycle in my 135 and well i got impaitient so i bite the bullet and got two 90gal packets of bio-spria. Last night my ammonia was a 3ppm and after empting bot packets into the tank today my ammonia is still at 3 ppm. How long before it drops to 0?

Remove your carbon, that will help, also, did you use the appropriate amount for your tank? It may take a couple of days for it to establish itself.

Jen ;)

i dont think your supposed to put too much biospira in. i dont know why i just heard ur not supposed to put more than the package says too.

you can put 5 packs in there if you want. first off with a level of 3ppm you might have killed it right away. I always do a 50% waterchange before I used it. Second did you make sure the stuff was still cold when you bought it and got it home? if not it was probably dead. I would give it at least 3 days to see if you start getiing any lower readings.. You can also test for nitrates and if you have more than your normal tap water contains then you have bacteria present.

You cannot OD on bio spira (beneficial bacteria):screwy: .........the more the better!!! I'd say a couplee hrs max for it to reach full potential...........it just has to seed onto the media and substarate to start working.........good luck!!!:D

every time i used it i noticed a change in param with in a hour

i just have a quick question, when you use bio spira do you have to dose ammonia if you dont put fish in right away? i would think the answer is yes but im not sure?

WHAT<<<<???? quick answer is no......just dump the packet into you tank......tada!!!! "supposed" to be instant bio filtration.........not instant but helps a whole hell of a lot...........You can skip the whole cycle, I did it on one of my 1st tanks and it worked great = no fish losses!!!!:woot:

ok thanks cause i was thinking that the beneficial bacteria would die if there was no ammonia for it to eat.
