How long for bio-spira to work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
test your tap water for nitrate and post what that tests at...it will take longer to cycle than it would of if you would have added the water, biospira and fish all at once. then its pretty much instant just give it a day or 2. if it gets realy high you can do a waterchange after 24hour of adding it.

well if it tests at 0 and you have a level of 10ppm then you have bacteria that is breaking down ammona and nitrite. you did test nitrAte right?? most water supplies have some nitrate...

yea I tested nitrAte. My first test came out at 10ppm then my next 2 came out at 0. And I think I messed up one the first test when I was adding drops.

Remove your carbon, that will help, also, did you use the appropriate amount for your tank? It may take a couple of days for it to establish itself.

Jen ;)

not really, carbon will have little effect on the bio spira.

on another note: bio additives will not cycle a tank over night, they do however reduce the time it takes to cycle.

so patience is still nessessary

bio-spira isn't a bio additive. its the actual bacteria. It is an instant cycle if used and cared for correctly. Just like juicing a filter

tested again today.

ammoina was off the charts...should I go a couple days without dosing?
nitrite .25ppm
nitrate 10ppm

I dosed another small capful of pure ammonia.
Does anyone have a guess on how much longer?

DO NOT DOSE ANYMORE AMMONIA!!!!!!! wait for it to go away and its cycled NO MORE
