how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I tip @the societal norm ;-)
except when I can't afford it, OR if waiter/waitress negatively affect mealtime.

Once, I was young & poor working as hotel maid. some work crew guy kept leaving $40.00 under the pillow. first I thought it was a mistake & tucked it back under there. When it kept reappearing through the 3rd day, my boss told me it was a genuine Tip & I could keep it.
:-)
MADE my Job so much happier!

Another job at cafe/bar, the men would get all smashed & leave big wads of money by their glasses. I always gave it back to them the next day. Lol. Being grateful, they'd peel some bills off the top & hand 'em back to me.

You never know what kind of difference tips and/or kindness can make to somebody who's busting their butt.

I usually tip around 20% if they're good, 10-15% if they're so-so, and less than that if they're bad. I try to factor in how busy the place is & such as well.

I think a certain tip percentage is to be expected if a certain level of service quality is met, and I adjust my tips accordingly. Besides, servers in most parts of the U.S. don't get paid that much and depend on tips to get by.

I agree
I when out with the g.f the place was empty guy took to long to refill my drink, kinda rude not a good waiter .didn't even put a penny in the table...

There's a waiter in the same place he knows my name always refills our drink tells us if we are ok ect even when the place is full I always get the same service n he always gets a big tip

I took my wife to a fancy Italian restraint. And the service was so bad. And no one ever checked on our table. My wife was so upset on out "date night" she made ne leave a quarter on the table. 5 years later and I still remember that night. It shocked even me when she did that. But it really was bad. Maybe everyone was out back smoking dope or something. But wow! To walk out and not leave a tip. Is bad. But maybe the person just did not have any nore money. LOL but to leave a quarter. LOL rofl. I know ill never forget her doing that. Hehhehehaha

you said people who don't tip are low life penny pinchers. I do tip but I tip very low. I tip like 5% regardless of the quality of service. I frankly think that's more than enough and it's better than nothing

my feeling greatful isn't measured by the amount I tip. unlike people who think like you it is. and that's fine with me. but I just don't feel that way. it doesn't mean I wasn't thankful or that I was rude to them. again, if I spent $50 eating out, I just don't think you deserve $8-$10 just because you took my order and brought me my food.

I didn't say anything about you not tiping, I said who ever doesn't is a low life in my eyes. Sorry if?$5 kills you here and there. I not once said SumoNinja your a penny pincher. There's a difference from someone who tips even if it's not much compared to someone leaving nothing. I understand if the food taste gross, doesn't check to see how the people are doing, asking about refills. Bad service okay no tip

Sometimes I don't tip simply because I didn't have any change.

Either way, you guys assume people are cheap basterds or scum just because they don't tip. It's not mandatory. Maybe someone just flat out doesn't agree with the concept. But they still have the right to eat there
