How much experience and knowledge do you have in fish keeping

I have been fishkeeping over 20 yrs (thats right I'm old) since I was in HS. I' don't know what I don't know so I can't really talk about my knowledge though i have had many different experiences/problems with my tanks and I am always learning something new. i have a specila interest in Cichlids because of their diversity. I am also branching out to other types of fish, I want to try Rays and maybe other types of fish as well.

Your not old..I love cichlids too...they are very intelligent fish.. they all have their own personalities...and in breeding i find them the best parents..the female will fight with all her might to protect those babies.. and they are dedicated to them for a long time after..and they are fresh water fish with wonderful colors and endless shapes and sizes. thanks!

Started keeping fish about 97 or was it 98...started off with freshwater fish...ran some species tanks, small stuff compared to the fish here...

Then after a couple a years, decided to push out to what i always wanted, marine keeping....Have a real passion for the old "glass boxes o saltwter"...I dont really think of myself as having a perticular area i tend to specialise in as i've always tried to learn every aspect of the hobby...and still learning now and hopefully never stop learning....

Thats great.. i just went into marine myself.. at least i have one salt tank up and running.. thinking about adding some marine fish to it.. right now just the columbian sharks are in the tank.. and because they are so fast and active i want to wait until they calm down a bit .. if they ever do... thanks for sharing.

around 25 years. always was a cichlid guy. Always something else to learn.

Ive kept multiple tanks since I was 12.Took a few years break when first married with young kids.All we had was 1 goldfish for those few years.So over 30 years total.Bettas and guppies almost always,and always have an oscar.Since starting with multiple tanks again my big interest is african cichlids and plecos.I have a bs in biology with lot of coursework in chemistry so the scientific end of fishkeeping always interests me.

Got a job at a pet shop for a part time thing during college. Went in with 10 years reptile experience and none with fish. Its been 2 years and i've got 5 tanks going, mainly cichlids but there is so much out there its mind boggling!
