  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What an interesting thread, it was sent to me by someone else because i noticed the difference in my EBJD from when i first got it to now. Mind you its not the incredible change as the fish were talking about but still quite a change.

lets see more pictures of the op's jd

yeah, it's just weird that he never posted any more pix, just the one shot that started all of the questions. my EBJD at 3" looks nothing like he did at 1" - - different shape, different color, etc - - but looks nothing like a regular JD either

if it was an EBJD, it didn't have great color, but it had great physical qualities (head-shape for example), so a breeder might have wanted it

This pic was taken approx a little over a year after I bought him around 1~1.5"... so I would guess 1.5 years from birth...

I've watched 5 or 6 go through this stage... they all went through it shortly after sexual maturity, do diffeent degrees and for different amounts of time...

I can't say all of them will go through it, but the males I've raised have...

Also the environment, mood and picture quality will all impact what we see in pics...

I haven't kept EB JD, but, I have seen a ton of them and a ton of the "standard" JD's. The OP's pic shows NO beige what so ever, most notably the cheeks and chin, the spots on the cheek are all wrong for a quality "standard" JD and there is a definite blue tone to the top of the head and along the base of the dorsal (where the normal spotting is absent). . . EB JD IMHO - I would like to leave the "quality" of the fish to the people that are experts, I don't normally deal with man made strains :)
