I have a lot of fish. Big fish. My water would be destroyed in hours if I do any less. What I have is actually a bare min. I do a 75% WC once every week. Also when I hook up my drip system I actually will bypass the water change since the drip system will automatically do it for me. When I link the two systems together and run my hydrophonic system on the two tanks I will only need to clean the turds out and top it off. Maybe change the water once a month max. The plants will take care of the rest. I will added vitamins for the plants. To lengthen the time to change water. At the only real need for a WC after that is to get more minerals into the system.
My fish in the tank pop out turds the size of your thumb. This tank will be upgraded to a 10'x10'x3' once I move. That system will also be fully planted and with all that room for filtration I will still have about 14x turnover on it.
The stock for this 180gal is
1x 23"+ tropical gar
1x 21"+ tropical gar
1x 20" Florida gar
2x 20" longnose gar
1x 18"+ Florida gar
1x 18"+ shortnose gar
1x 16" Florida gar
1x 16" Cuban gar
2x 14" Florida gar
2x 14" longnose gar
1x 15" bowfin
Growing out I have
1x 14" longnose
1x 12" gator gar
1x 6"+ Niger catfish
1x 5" mala wolf fish
Will be growing out soon
5x black aro
5x silver aro
Once I have my 10x10x3 built they all will be combined. Then I will grow out some more catfish, gars and possibly rays for that big tank.
I am most likely in the next month or so getting a 6'x3'x2' for these fish to hold up in a bit longer.
