Wow. I cant believe some of what I'm reading.People argueing to make fishkeeping more expensive?Think about it Banning certain fish would do one thing, create jobs for criminals.I still laugh 15 years later about the girl who was arguing with me for gun contol laws, while she was holding a joint!

Bans on ANYTHING only stops responsible lawabiding people.Piranha are illegal in NY,anyone here honestly believe no new yorkers have any?
Permits? If all you have to do is fill out a form its not going to stop any of the problems you are talking about. And what kind of enforcement could there be?Make people who purchase a fishtank subject to inspections by the DEC?You think the police would have cycled thousand gallon tanks to put seized fish in or would they stick it in a bag and send it to the evidence room?Would that improve the fishes lot in life?
Imho, the best thing responsible fishkeepers can do is try to educate anyone starting in the hobby, who will listen, about doing it right.Tank space, compatibility ,cycling all issues that if new fishkeepers knew more about, less fish would end up as fertilizer.
