All of those stories are at least 10-20 years old.
thats the point I was making with my post and examples of my coworkers.
the job market is getting more and more competitive every day it seems.
here in Ontario Canada, the only options for those without college or university are retail/fast food or landscaping. thats it.
and none pay a 'living wage' ie enough to live on your own. they pay minimum wage or just over it.
thats the harsh reality out there.
even jobs that would would not expect to have to have 'peices of paper for' do.
eg. I work for regional goverment. to be hired on as a line cook you still need certifications and certificates.
everything these days needs some form of diploma/certificate/degree etc.
except retail/fast food or landscaping.
good luck with whatever you chose, but I would strong consider toughing it out.
its hard enough out there WITH an education. its even harder without.
