You know it's one thing to do something stupid and moronic, but why post about here on MFK? Are you looking for someone to tell you this was OK? Or maybe your just proud about what you've done. You know you have matured over the last few months in your postings, but with this I guess we all know the answer to the question you ask in your signature....You are truely just a FISH HAVER

I don't understand posting this. It was not a "mistake" as someone already tried to say. You knew damn good and well what you were doing. In all the time you've kept fish, you would think the one thing you would have learned is their BEHAVIOR! It's really not just that you uhhh..."euthanized" them, it's that you did it in one of the worst, most torturous ways possible. May someone shove you in a glass of scalding hot water and pour detergent in for kicks......and maybe shove a my-stix up your a......

This bores down more to you having 7 convicts, and 6 Loaches in a 35G, fry/juvies or not.

For a species with solid reasoning and thought process, you shouldn't have snapped at the fish you're looking after for being instinctive. I can understand the need to get rid of Convicts, but there's more humane ways to do it than sticking the poor things in scalding hot water.

Also consider that your new loach wasn't eating due to stress, I hardly think you flaring your net around in the tank in an anger fit will have helped the cause.

Think before you do, next time. Consider also staying away from easy breeding fish if you don't have the patience, resources or time to deal with them.

:iagree::iagree::iagree:
You already did what you did, so no point arguing about it, but the loaches should have eventually ate. If the convicts kept eating then maybe they weren't being feed enough, throwing some more food in would have stuffed the cons and then given the loaches something to munch on. They also could have been picking at things throughout the tank while not looking. Fish can go for a while without eating, not seeing them eat in 4 days is not that bad.

Guys, settle down. Stop pretending like you haven't snapped and done something regretful in your lives. Points to him for being open and honest about what he's done.

I can understand why he posted this, and why people say you should talk about your problems. It's so you learn something about it, and don't do it again. I've already stated that I think Mystix is ultimately responsible for everything that happened to his tank and his fish, but I can definitely say that a few 'deaths', which are ultimately no worse than fish dying of Ammonia/Nitrite poisoning and no less painful than Ich, is probably worth it for the lesson learnt.

For a young man of 14 I think he's an exemplary fish keeper and researches well and knows what he's talking about. I just hope this bout of anger isn't a sign of things to come in his future of the hobby, and that he realizes what he did was wrong and pretty much just plain stupid, gets over it, and never lets it happen again.

As I was not aware of age, I will apoligize for PART of my previous post. And I must say I am impressed with his knowledge and experience. That being said, I still do not excuse the actions for age.

next time feed the fish to a bigger fish
or give them away for free to a better home

doesn't seem like a humane way to kill a fish i've had fish do this to me many time like one large gold fish i use to have it would do the same thing to all of my grow outs thats why its better to keep small fish in there own tank or with fish of the same speed

P.S i sold the gold fish i have never killed one of my fish on purpose
