Me and "smokey" my 3 foot fire eel are very sad to hear of such news.I would be crushed if that happened to me.They are a fish that really form a bond with there owner and that makes it as hard as loosing a relative.Again very sorry for your loss.

Since I got him at 18", I don't know for sure. I would suspect that he was about 2.5 years old when I got him knowing the size of his head at the time. I've raised to two babies as well, and his head was about the size of theirs now at a little over 2 years old. My two other fire eels are 26" or so, but, as Norbert had been starved, he was stunted. So, I think he was about 4.5 years old. My two younger ones are going to hit 30"probably by the end of August at about 2.5 years old.drgnfrc13;4149484; said:Sorry for your loss. How old was he?
