Do water change, yes. And no, don't add more salt. Kanamycin is more effective with less salt.

Yes, the symbiotic feeling between these two makes columnaris secondary to ich. It always is. It's why when there are cases of columnaris, the first questions I asked are regarding the injury or parasite history. Same with fungus. They can't just establish themselves without anything else to inflict damage on the slime coat of your fish. It's the slime coat that is protecting them from infections.
so i can go and buy kanamycin and my lfs? i will try to go today.... is this disease fatal? if so how long doeas the fish have to live? i cant afford to lose this fish just got this a red isleta that just died and xiloaensis that is fine.

There's no way I can tell you when. Maybe 4-5 days but I'd get kana quick and then feed the fish with nutritious foods laced in garlic. Add multivitamins in the food as well.

right now the only food i have is hikari staple.... and anyways hes not eating anymore he just lays down all day.

i have another Q.. if they dont have kanamycin is ther anything else that will work? if i were to put the midas in my 20 gallon with my 1'' festae will the kanamycin affect them?

Don't involve the festae on the treatment. If no kanamycin, give Jungle Fungus Clear or Maracyn Plus a shot.

I'll just post here the answers rather than PM. I can't handle the number of PMs I am receiving anymore at this time.:WHOA:

so i took your guys advice and bought a hospital tank.... i put the midas in there and i am treating him with maracyn..... i did not make the tank fancy just bare bottom heater hood and a filter... he is looking much better as you can see but im still goin to do the five day treatment..

Always dose the medication for the full length of time. Just because a fish starts to look/act better doesn't mean that you can stop treatment. It's just like when you go to the doctor and are prescribed an antibiotic -- if they give you a seven-day prescription and you feel better in four, you're supposed to continue for the full seven days anyway.
