Mind your own buisness & keep looking for a bike that willf it your needs...

that's great advice until something of yours gets nabbed by some idiot junkie.. report the dude and let the cops find out if your right or wrong IT'S WHAT THEY GET PAID TO DO

what kind of moron would steal a bike then put it on Craigslist thats probably the quickest way to get caught unless he posted it in another state

people sell stolen stuff on CL all the time ... ya ,it's stupid .. but the average thief is an idiot....

Honestly it's probably best to move on with your day. Yeah realistically it would be nice to get the bike back to its owner if it was stolen, but realistically the police will most likely do nothing. Being in this situation before when I called in something that was obviously stolen they said nobody on the area had reported something like this stolen recently so they had better things to do. You can try and all it in but don't be surprised if they if don't of that much stock into what your telling them.

all depends on the situation ... if you have enough people getting stuff stolen in this guys area the cops will be thankful for the tip......:).. put yourself in the shoes of the VICTIM ... then tell me how you would handle it... once again .. if the bikes NOT stolen the guy has nothing to fear from the report

Sure maybe they get paid to do that but it still doesn't mean there gonna do anything for someone that suspects something without any proof whatsoever. You should just let it go because really you have nothing other then suspecting its stolen.

ok ,,your point being ,cops are worthless? the cops MIGHT NOT follow up .. but what if it's A PROBLEM in the area and CAREFREE DUDE just stumbled into the answer ...and whether or not the cops do anything isn't the point anyway the OP obviously thinks reporting it is the proper response ,,, and IT IS:)

A friend of mine found his car stereo being sold on craigslist. He met with the guy to confirm it was his, then called the police. He got on the local news!

If you ask the bike seller for the serial #, he will probably disappear, it's too obvious. Ask to go see the bike, then record the number but don't buy it. Call the cops, if it's stolen they will have it in a database. Whatever happens after that, you've done the right thing and your conscience is clear.

Don't read too far into it.. Defenitly didn't say cops are worthless, not exactly sure where you got that, just saying they have better things to do other then take up time trying to find out if this bike is stolen just because one person thinks its is. If they do then great but if there is no report of a stolen bike in the area from the owner then honestly that's the owners fault and the cops most likely won't go looking for it.
