I think we are being persuaded by the wrong people

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My neighbors and very good friends are Buddhists great people, though they do not believe in harming an animal/insect/fish ect for no reason, they wont come fishing with us when we go catch/release but will if we are eating the fish. They do not consider animals and humans to be equel in terms of value have no issues eating animal meat. Its more of a respect for all life which i dont disagree with
and I agree with that as well. respecting all forms of life is different then giving your life for all forms of life

oh so a child molesting menace would die but the leg humping dog is ok???

Try not to take my statements out of context. First off none of my dogs are leg humpers, so it really wouldn't apply to the question I was asked. My point was not all humans are worthy of being saved.

Actually the leg humping dog thing I found funny. Unless of course animals and people are equal because then the dog is a sexual predator LOL.

you got why I wrote it. I was just trying to bring some light into a dark area

Edit: meant to quote walib
I can agree with this some what....no all humans are worthy to breathe air (rapists/molesters what ever) but who are we to judge right. Personally speaking i wouldnt help a person like that either.
BUT for those that think animals are equal to humans isnt the male lion that takes over a pride and kills all of the existing cubs in the same boat as a rapist/molester/serial killer ?

Cant have it both ways...should that lion be hunted down and killed ? Or is this where we say "hey its just the lions natural instinct"

Thats what seperates us most humans can fight urges and a sort of natural instinct cant say the same for the lion

With regards to the oil company and the ducks they broke the law fine. My concern is why did green peace take them to court not the government.

Bill, I understand your concern because I'm well aware of your personal situation, but the reality is your private zoo, that was open to the public, and people keeping ornamental species of fish in the privacy of their own homes, are two completely different and seperate issues. If I took all my tanks outside and lined them up in my backyard, and charged an admission fee to anyone that walks by, then I too would be opening myself up to the scrutiny of everyone in society, including the Govt, and extremist type groups. I'm sorry that you and your family went through that, but it's not the same issue that I face as a private individual keeping animals in the privacy of my home.

To answer your question, Greenpeace took Syncrude to court because our govt obviously couldn't be bothered. Personally I have no issue with that. Good on them, at least someone cared enough to call them out on what they were doing, or in this case weren't doing.
