I thought this was MONSTERfishkeepers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually like the fact that there is something for everyone on this site. I've been a member of many, many forums. This one is by FAR my favorite. I like the fact that I can share my native darters as well as my rays and other "monster" fish. I've learned an incredible amount on this forum, probably more than all other avenues combined. I'm an active member of aquarium clubs and a research junky, but MFK is my home! If we restricted tank size or species of fish, this site would be as dead as all the other forums in no time. There are still several members with giant tanks and fish who are active daily...including myself. We are also lucky enough to be in the presence of a few of the greatest monster fish keepers of all time. These guys blow the MFKers of the late 2000's out of the water! There are a handful of active members who keep over 10,000 gallons. Maybe you just overlooked them...lol

I think of 55 and 75 gal tanks, as grow out tanks for fry.
To me the the most irritating posts are those where too large a fish are crammed into too small a tank, with too few water changes..
I consider an oscar in a 75, where water is changes once or twice per month, to be in that irritating category.
To me, educating about keeping the proper sized fish, in the proper sized tank is the goal, not subjecting a monster to cramped or squalid conditions.
Absolutely bro! I dunno i feel like these post n comments turn into defensive or offensive sprays.. and get taken outta hand most the time ey.. hmm you guys definitely got me.. i should have referenced fish rather then tanks. 55 tbh im not sure what that is my native tounge but been on here long enough to realise thats about a standard 4ft??. I just wanna here about big dog stuff not questions about stocking tanks the size of our sumps ey.

I agree older posts had more monster related items but as we keepers get more knowledgable about tank sizes etc we realize as Duane said, cramming big fish in small boxes isnt acceptable anymore...

Along with property prices skyrocketing and bills to pay, that large 500G tank doesnt seem quite as appealing unless you have a fair bit of disposable income...

This is especially true for me living in HK where property prices is ridiculous...

Monster is up to the interpretation of each individual. There are some really small fish that are monsters in the own right. I personally like seeing all different types of fish and set ups. Remember you are not require to read any posts that are not of interest to you.

Wow wow wow bro i deal with mfk on my phone so i dont have the time to revive all the old post of the cool stuff. There isnt an actual above 180gall section.. it seems every time i look something up on google it bloody comes up with mfk stuff lol its why i joined.. i love mfk n love you guys. Use have the knowledge i need. Just thought id post my ****offs for funzys

Tell manufacturers to sell 1000+ gallon tanks for the price of Nano tanks and I'll show you a monster fish keeper
Put some effort into it mate.. i was and am willing to spend a chunk on something worth looking at!

I think that there’s nothing wrong with small tanks and that it’s nice to see the more realistic side of the hobby. Now don’t get me wrong I’m a sucker for the monsters too but honestly the small fish are where it’s at for most people out there. I just got into cherry shrimp and I have to say it’s huge fun. So there’s definitely something for everybody here and I really appreciate that.
