Yep. Course it was more work to get rid of then to grow.

Ok, what's the secrete? I have no problem growing anything from bunch plants to spadder docks to swamp trees but hair grass just won't grow for me.

What is your lighting. Most 'carpeting' plants take a lot of light, and nutrients in a well balanced tank to grow well.

well at first I had a 400 watt MH but my swamp trees began to suffer so i moved them out into the greenhouse but even though everything else grows great hair grass doesn't. I've been keeping fish for 45 years and grown all most every plant i can think of but for some reason short hair grass has always been a problem.

You are still running a 400W MH? What size tank? Are you really using dwarf hairgrass, or have you been sold an imitator that is actually not aquatic? There are some stores that sell plants as dwarf hairgrass, but in fact they are not.

hey guys,

im thinking of running a fully automatic CO2 system; dont wanna deal with the hassle of having to monitor CO2 levels constantly. What do you guys think of this ph controller and regulator/solenoid combo? seems like a good deal for under $200

so if i understand this correctly, the plug from the solenoid plugs into the ph controller, then the ph controller gets plugged into the wall. then, when the ph reaches the preset level, the CO2 gets shut off. is this correct?

basically, if i get this all i would need is the CO2 bottle and a diffusor or reactor. do diffusors work that well, as ive read reactors are better?

what do you guys think of this reactor? seems ok but im not sure...

thx!

I was at the time, it was a hold over from growing live coral, You may have a point about the hair grass being a non aquatic version, how would I know? some of it came from a petsmart and the rest from on line dealers. this tank was a 125 with a 50 gallon sump.

ok guys, here's a quick project update yeeeeeeeeee! just picked up the tank for this project. found a deal on craiglist i couldnt pass up! its a 55g acrylic tank (Sea Clear i think is the brand) with stand and two dual bulb fixtures. i think 4 bulbs total should give me enough lighting, close to 3wpg. the tank is in great shape, just has a few very light scratches that im gonna buff out.

ready for the price? $60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think it was an awesome deal :headbang2

i have a glass diffusor on my system and it works well i have the micro bubbles go past my outflow of my power head and they all get disolved so it works for me. but i think reactors work better and if you are going for a ADA style tank that is one less thing that wont be in the tank. it will make the tank look cleaner (i think anyway) i have never done it but i heard reactors are easy to mak so that could be an option too. and congrats on the tank cant wait to see it finished.

thanks man, ill look into those DIY reactors. seems like an easy concept. im excited to get this going, but its gonna be a slow project. dont wanna spend all the money at once since i just recently set up my 210g. this hobby is a sickness!
