gizzard shad is in the fl list

Lists can be a good tool for IDing a fish, but are not the end all in saying what it is. Those are not Gizzard Shad. Can you catch one and get a very clear close up of the eye? You might want to catch one and take it to a university or DNR close by.

look like shad and usually this time of the year they go up rivers to spawn. would go down to the savannah river and catcth them on sabikis hard fighters .

Maybe it is a gizzard shad... those pics are making me nuts (nothing personal). Did the dorsal fin have the long rays coming off of it that gizzards have? If so, you are probably right.

Below is a rather large Gizzard Shad from the Illinois River in LaSalle county Illinois. This fish very near the 12" mark.
