IT IS A NORMAL JUVINILE TIGER OSCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As stated by modest man, all juvi oscars go through this coloration. Andyourblueblood, you say you work with fish everyday right, then why dont you know this???????????? Dude youve got an ordinary TIGER OSCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone who keeps saying this is an ordinary tiger aren't producing any photos to back this up. Just one crappy photo of an albino that looked nothing like the fish I posted. Like I've mentioned before, as prevalant as Oscars are (arguably the most popular cichlid in the hobby), pictures of their babies/juvies should be a dime a dozen. I'm just not finding any. I'm not saying I don't believe you guys or take you for your word, just show me. It's a pretty simple request.:)

I post a link to a Japanese site with an Oscar that looks nearly exactly like the fish I bought and everyone acts like I'm the retard. I don't understand.:D

Obviously, I assume it's because it's some species that no one has ever heard of, so that kind of makes it very unlikely that that's what I have. Well, that and the chances of getting a rarity like that from a Petsmart are probably pretty slim. But, even so, at the end of the day, I'm going to believe my eyes. No one else, so far, has produced one single picture of a "normal tiger oscar" that looks like the fish I bought.

And don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be combative, or obtuse, or argumentative. I'm just trying to learn. I just think the unwillingness to accept anything besides the usual, rehashed, memorized same ol' same ol' profile type information is the downfall of mankind (well, maybe not that serious, lol.). After all, Convicts and Jack Dempseys were again re-classified. New species are being discovered each year. Isn't it even a little possible that one of these could've found it's way to a Petsmart in Concord, NC?

Maybe I am the retard in this discussion? :D

mine looked like that and I got him from petsmart. She looked like this three years later.

Picture was taken with a phone, sorry for the quality

My experience with oscars tells me that you cant really tell by juvenile coloration what they are going to look like as adults. Yours looks like the zebra oscar. It may or may not develop red markings as it grows older.

Thanks again everyone for offering suggestions and/or help. I guess time will tell when it comes to this little guy. Unless he becomes a meal first  (I hope not, my curiousity has been peaked).:)

It is a tiger Oscar, mine looked like that when I first got him and this is what he turned out like. He changed colour around the 5" mark, my friend also had one like that which he bought as a magpie oscar, I told him it would change and it did. I hope it doesn'y change as they look so cool like that but don't get your hopes up.

Look man, just grow the flipin oscar out and then you will find out that it is a tiger oscar. I'm not going to go around searching for pics that resemble your oscar. But time will tell what your oscar is. Once it gets some size on it post pics.

Dude, take it easy. I'm not calling anyone a liar here or anything like that. It just doesn't make sense to me that juvenile Oscar pics are so hard to come by that someone would even have to search very hard to find some.

A couple of good before and after pics that look like the one I posted when small then look like regular Oscars when big would settle this whole matter. But, nobody has produced such a picture(s). The only pic I've found on the web that resembles even remotely the fish I bought and posted a pic of is the "Rio Caqueta" from that Japanese site.

No hard feelings here anyone. Like I said before, I'm not calling anyone a liar or trying to be obtuse. I'm just trying to learn about a fish I admit I don't know much about. People keep saying words, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

Is it a regular type Oscar? According to most who have responded, most likely. I can accept that. I don't have some deep down need to have some ultra rare Oscar for goodness sakes.

Could it be something other than a regular type Oscar? Of course it could. I'll really be ok either way. I don't really even care. I don't really even like Oscars for that matter. This was strictly an impulse buy because it looked so different from all the other regular Oscars in the tank.

I'll sleep just fine tonight on my stack of Select Comfort pillows whether this fish turns out to be a regular Oscar or if it turns out to be dinner for my Mota or if it starts granting wishes.:D

I'll keep posting updates though with photos to keep those who may even remotely care about this topic informed.;)

Oh, I almost forgot, thanks again to everyone who has participated in this discussion. Your opinions and experience are not taken for granted. I appreciate all the help and suggestions, even if it seems as if I don't.;)
