If some one does post photos whats going to make you believe them? If the two fish look totally different whats the point of posting pictures? One will have your Oscars pattern and the other will have a normal O's pattern. You could just say its two different fish, mine looked like that and now he looks like the picture I posted. My friend had a look at this and said his didn't look like that as his was black and white (hence the nickname Magpie Oscar, Zebra depending on location) but it still turned out like a normal O. I'll ask him tomorrow if he has picture of it when it was young, but still you could just say they are two different fish so whats the point?
Honestly, I'm not that much of an a-hole. I'm not calling anyone a liar here. I actually believe them. I'd just like to see a pic. No one has yet to explain why, with Oscars arguably being
the most popular and prevelant cichlid in the hobby, no photos exist of what some are saying is normal coloration of a juvie. After all, I did write that I took Biohendrix at his word, even without photos, as he does indeed live with them every day. I'm not a jerk.
I don't find the claims that this fish is normal 'hard to believe'. What I find hard to believe is that in 5 pages, no one has been able to find or post a pic of an Oscar that looks like the one I bought. That's pretty much the jist of it.
I've already admitted that in all likelyhood, the fish I bought is a totally normal Tiger Oscar that will eventually look like all the other Tiger Oscars. But, I can't help thinking the
possibility exists that it could be something else. Today I showed the same picture I posted to the local fish store owner who's been in the business owning his own fish store since 1985. He has sold thousands of Oscars of every size, shape and color. He said he's never seen one that looked like that. Surely, he couldn't be that retarded to have never noticed the 'natural coloration' of a juvenile Oscar. And I've been looking at fish for a while too. Every Oscar I've ever seen has, for the most part, the adult type colration (with orange splotches), even the very small ones. Keep in mind that the fish I posted pictures of is a good 3" long without a hint of orange anywhere, or a hint of the splotch type pattern.
Logic says it
should be a regular Oscar. However, logic isn't always correct. I think for the most part, it's not complete without photos. I mean, come on, 5 pages of thread with no other photos of anything even remotely resembling the fish I bought?
The most common cichlid in our hobby? Think about it.
Again, all due respect to those participating in this discussion. I appreciate everyone's comments and don't discount their experiences. I guess I'm just the kind of guy that has to
see for himself. "School" me, help me learn (get it? "School" me? Fish tend to hang around together in a school? Lame, I know, lol.).

Like I said before, I know hardly anything about Oscars. I never really liked Oscars.
I've just stumbled upon a conundrum that doesn't make any sense to me (the no pictures available anywhere thing keeps sticking in my craw.). I'm 99% sure what everyone is saying is correct. It's that 1% and no pictures that I can't stop pondering.
The Black Crows have a song (on one of the greatest albums of all time, I might add, Southern Harmony and Musical Companion) that they covered from the Rolling Stones called "Time Will Tell". I promise to keep updating this thread with photos. Keep checking it out, just find me a picture so I can quit obsessing over this, lol.
