Ideas For South American Community Tank

Yes, and as I undersand it bushies are more of a dedicated algae eater, as opposed to common plecos which are pretty opportunistic (mine would swim upside down and suck on cichlid pellets).

I'd consider a school of otto cats. They'll eat algae off of your live plants and they're generally cute little cats.

here you go

I have 1 75G canister and 2 75G HO filters with 2 UV sterilizers and a sponge filter for this setup. The current stock are 2 pairs blue rams, 12 rummy-noses and 12 cardinal tetras. I haven't been able to find any dwarf acaras, so I am wondering what other dwarfs will go well with my rams. Do I have room for another 12 tetras of some kind? Also can someone breakdown if a BN pleco or a few otto cats would be better for this setup and how many ottos to do the job of a BN? Thanks for all the good ideas to everyone who has posted.

bristlenose are cool in my opinion i think advantages are
1-smaller size
2-breed very easily and sexed very easily
3-i find them somewhat nice looking

Is there anyone from the GTA here that can suggest a good LFS. I have been to all the Big Al's locations and to Alternative Aquariums in Burlington. None of which carry dwarf acaras.

Do you think it would be better to use the BN over otto's?

I have a BN, and he is a very good algae eater (but he must be fed veggies/fruit, wafers, pellets, of course), has great personality too. He doesn't eat plants, but he uprooted every stem plant I had (about 10), the larger plants I have are fine. My 3 year old picked a BN over ottos, LOL. Big plus is he ate most of the baby snails that hitchiked in on the plants.

Congo tetras are African, not SA, btw.

I have a 55 gallon with- Bolivian Rams, Angelfish, BN Pleco, Cory Catfish, Flame Tetras, Cardinal Tetras. I LOVE my mix, except for the Cory's. Not really enough activity, I got pandas and 2 out of 6 died within 2 weeks (2 of the 3 fish deaths I've had) and with the Rams and BN I have too much activity at the bottom. Some are all about Corys, me not so much.
