Ideas For South American Community Tank

You will like the Bn. My experiance with the ottos is that they seem to get ick and die very easily. Bn are very hardy and stay out in the open. I have one in my 90 with large haps and he keeps this tank algae-free.

So I think I will go with the BN. Now I just have to pick out some more tetras and a pair of dwarfs....for some reason they are hard to find around here.

Check out the flame tetras. I was wishy-washy, but when I got them home, I was really pleased with them- and the high-body is a nice contrast to the torpedo shape of the rummy/cardinal. They are a stunning tangerine to almost red color. Very pretty with rams, IMO.

75G 4ft. tank.
75G Canister Filter x1
75G HO Filter x2
Sponge Filter x1
UV Sterilizer x2
Heavily planted, 3 nice pieces of driftwood and random small rocks

Rummy-Noses x12(I already have them)
Cardinal Tetras x12(I already have them)
Harlequin Rasboras x12(I already have them)
Blue Ram Pairs x2(I already have them)
Tangerine Dream Discus x2?
Blue Diamond Discuss x2?

Does anyone see any potential problems with this setup?
Any comments or ideas?

Harlequin rasboras? Those are from Thailand, Eastern Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula, so they don't fit the SA theme.

I wouldn't do discus, all the tetra movement might stress them out. I'd try to get some deeper bodied tetras to break up the sameness of the rummys and neons. Something like Hyphessobrycon bentosi, H. sweglrsi, H. erythrostigma or something like that.
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Rams either, they're too common. I'd look for some other dwarf or smallish peaceful cichlids like Australoheros sp., laetacara or crenicara.
