Thanks Ryan, great info, I have no experience with Heros.

Chiapaheros grammodes below, the male has many tiny spots on the face

and in the females there are lines

Speaking of Heros, can anyone id this severum for me? Was a wild caught specimen I had a couple of years back. Always assumed he was male because of the aggression level. There seems to be spotting in the gill area. He was taken out of a 75 gallon with two other severums as he would constantly attack the others and put in a 125 with a large oscar where he did well.

It’s a male. Looks like appendiculatus or a rotkeil cross (rotkeil traits but no red neck).
