ok so as you read before...25%ish water change...rinsed out sponges and got most to all the gunk and debris out in dechlorinated water...then put the prescribed amount of stress zyme in the filters....testing the water now....

actually now i look at it, its still the same...so who wants a 90 gallon tank? ughhh

your problem should not be this hard.

do you have friends with established tanks?
do you have a LFS that you buy from regularly?

if yes, then try and get some foam from an established filter from them and put it directly into your AC. If not foam, then get some gravel from one of their established tanks and put it in an AC nylon bag(they sell them seperately for all the AC sizes)and pop it into your filter. At the same time, buy a product called "Cycle" and use that at the same time too. After doing this for just a few days you will have no more problems.
I have done it to my newbie friends' tanks hundreds of times with 100% success.

cant believe this thread is still going. dont waste your money on Cycle. that is crap and is just a marketing gimmick at best. how the hell is bacteria in a bottle supposed to stay alive when its on the shelf for months with no food source? at least the Biospira stuff used to be sold refrigerated

the thing is my tanks were cycled...this sucks my **** was all established..i cant get any of that stuff no. special holiday week

I don't know how it works, but many years ago i did a test because i was skeptical about this product. I don't need to use it because all my tanks are cycled and i "seed" any new tank.

what i did was set up 2 10 gallon tanks with all the same parameters. i began to cycle both, one with the "Cycle" product and one without. the tank that had the "Cycle" added to it indeed ended the cycle sooner than the other. i am sorry but i did not document anything and i cant remember all the details....i did this in my early 20's when i had more time on my hands :D

like you i did not believe in this product at all but in practice it did help, so....

yeah i tried it once also to see if it was actually a myth. i used this on my 100g. i dumped almost the whole bottle in the FX5 when ammonia was at its peak. of course, nothing happened. ammonia eventually went down a few weeks later as part of the normal cycling process.

i dont have any documentation either, just my own experience :)

If not Cycle, then Bio Spira. Just something to give the current bacteria a boost and help it along. Apparently Bio Spira has a better, more effective strain of bacteria than Cycle.

yeah i heard biospira is the only bacteria that actually works. but apparently they went out of business or discontinued the product. or something along those lines...
