All died in the same night? Water? or aggro?

i think water. they have been together for almost 2 months, with no sign of aggression other than the occasional nip when one tries to steal food from the other. The only thing i did differently was add aquarium salt to deal with what looked like ich in my pbass. Either bichirs can't handle any salt, or I overdosed. :(

Nah.....I don't think the salt could do it, unless you dosed like 3tbs per gallon. I wonder. Check the tank and make sure there is nothing dead under a rock, spreading "die" around...

I checked, nothing there. The funny thing is that none of my other fish look like they were even aware of the situation. The little pbass are fine, the severums are fine, even the temporary frontosas are fine. I added 1 tsp per gallon, but I think I might have added it too fast and shocked them to death

How do you add salt all at once or 1 spoon at a time?

3 tsp at a time, 30 second intervals

whoops, meant 1 tsp at a time at 30 second intervals

You need to dissolve the salt before you put it in the tank. This is most likely why they died. I do feel sorry for your situation, but I feel like an answer would make you feel a little better in a way :) Good luck and never do it again...lesson learned..
