fishandscales;2943601; said:dude u need to do some research on the fish that u want first. to make sure that they are from the same area and same water conditions because u are wanting to mix cichlids that come from different water and i am not saying that it cant b done but its not natural its best to keep African cichlids with other African cichlids and south American cichlids with other south american cichlids and centeral american cichlids with other centeral american cichlids because they all require differante water condictions. so please do some research before u buy them
Big_D_Breezy;2945171; said:I've done quite a bit of research, and everything i've read is stating that Sa and Ca cichlids will do fine in the same tank because they're water parameters are close, and I didn't think it would be a problem to stick a frontosa in there because my lfs had a 8" on in a tank with a bunch of jd's, 2 jags, and an oscar, and he seemed to be doing fine, but I'm taking the advice of some of the ppl here and instead of keeping the front in the tank with my other fish, i'm going to take him back and get a RTM instead

Big_D_Breezy;2941603; said:the funny thing is, at the moment the jaguar is one of the lowest in the heirarchy, right now its: the bigger JD, Oscar, bigger Firemouth, smaller JD, smaller Firemouth, GT, then the Jag, EBJD, Frontosa

Regardless of hierarchy at the moment, if you feed your fish as expected, within a 3-6 months the hierarchy is going to be:
Jag in the middle of the tank, all other fish up in the corners pleading to stop biting them.
Sorry man, I have to say a 60 is too small to be sticking a jag in; especially with other fish...
Though a shoal of vampire tetras in there!
The firemouths should be ok as long as you have hide spots. the motoguense is a cool replacement for the frontossa. If you can find captive bred fronts. they may be ok to keep with the dempsey & firemouth. Try to keep the firemouths to keep the diversity. the 260 is big enough.Big_D_Breezy;2945425; said:Is going to be a 260g, and I've talked my girl into letting me get rid of her firemouths, so I think there will be enough for everyone to get there own little territories
