IS 265G BIG ENOUGH???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
trust me...this will change...I had a similar combo in my 125 a while back..small jag, midas, firemouth, jd and gt. the jag was smallest and got pushed around by the firemouth. the midas <female> was queen of the tank. then the jag hit 6" and literally took the tank over. the jag owned 3/4 of the tank while the others all cowered in a corner.
:iagree:
i have 2 jags a red pike an a red bay snook i got all except the snook at about 1-2" the jags werent that mean at the time i had two firemouths an two convicts in the tank as well the snook i got about 2-3 months later from a buddy he was about 6" so he was the ruler of the tank when my male jag hit about 6-7 inches he killed the fire mouths and i had to take the convicts out because i caught the snook with the females head in his mouth so they got moved ever since the jag an snook till battle but there not to bad tankmates they are getting ready to be moved into a 210g where they wolnt battle as much but like just about everyone said keep an eye on that jag they are mean an they are strong.

definatly move the front as has been said over and over. the other fish besides the bichir could work given enough hiding spots and fake plants and what not to break lines of sight. just be prepared to possibly have to move that jag eventually if he fills out the jaguar personality.

personally i wouldent keep a bichir in with big cichlids. i had 3 in my 250 for a few months, and just got too paranoid they were going to look like a giant worm. ended up moving them after seeing my $50 ornante hanging from my jags mouth. thankfully, i got him to spit it up, and the ornate is fine.

if you want bottom dwellers for that tank, go with some sort of armored catfish like plecs or cories, or something like a clown loach, that has some sort of defense against a bigger fish. my FH's leanred real fast about the little spines under a CL's eyes and wont even look at them no more :)

This is my set up........works great for me. Trial and error.

LOL @ dats, pbass, ray, and a COMET. sounds like my combos with a big comet runnin loose. (i actually finally pulled him out today after 6 months with aggro cichlids)

go for everything but the bichir and the fronts, and add in a red devil. (just being a smart ass) i think the firemouths and ebjd would be fine in a 260 so long as you raise them all together. i have jags in a community that are complete wusses @ 10". give them there space and they are little puppy dogs who do fine with 2" fish.

If you reall want to play it safe, get rid of Frontsa, Bichir, and the jag and get a couple more passive cichlids like severums, and maybe a school of dithers, silver dollars or giant danios.

Just my opinion.
