I also added a few others after I posted the version you quoted. ;)

Just because one mutation is more common than another, doesn't mean you can count it as a natural color (and by "natural" I don't mean occuring in nature, I mean the fish's regular pigmentation) An example of this is that leucism is much more common in senegal bichirs than melanism, but both are still just mutations, not regular variation in color (as in regional variants).

And if you care to find out more about the mutations I posted, here's a link that lists them w/ their definitions: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1742460&postcount=9

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated :).

I have been warned by many people and many threads over the last 24hrs that Jardinis can be mean as hell. I am starting to wonder if a BlackAro would be a better choice. jworth- u seen any?

You are going to have to order a black aro from an online vendor. There are many silvers around right now. They are quite peaceful as well. Greentree pet center in Clarksville, IN has a ton last time I was in a few weeks ago. Thats just right accross the river from Lousiville. I forget what part of KY you said that you were from. But no, the only blacks that I see around here are grossly overpriced by hundreds.

Maybe a silver then. I like that the BA doesnt get DE, but I dont like that they are wild caught- I dont want to contribute to getting them onto an endangered species list. Thanks to all

I agree, the only place I've seen blacks was at the old Pets Palace in Louisville, but since they moved around 2008, I have never seen another one there. Also, I personally wouldn't buy a silver from Greentree, the last time I was there, they had about a dozen of them and only 4-5 were alive (and only two actually looked healthy), and they were overpriced too, I believe they were selling them for around $75-$80 at just 5-6". I got mine at Sandy's Pet Shop for just $40 at 5".

Overall, what is the best fish store in Louisville?

Well, the four I go to most often are: feeders supply (haven't bought any fish there in a pretty long time, but I get my cichlid gold there) pets palace, petsmart, and Sandy's Petshop (the only fish I've gotten there was my aro, but I usually go there to get frozen krill). It really just depends on what you are looking for.

Pets Palace is a good place to get more exotic fish for decent prices, but their stock is very unpredictable (if you ask, the will try to get the fish that your looking for, but it sometimes takes quite a while) and the store itself isn't exactly the cleanest I've seen. They also have a good selection of SW fish and inverts.

Greentree probably has the biggest selection of exotic fish and inverts of anywhere I've seen, but they don't mantain their tanks very well from what I've seen.

Noah's Ark pet store is probably the best fish store I've ever been to. They don't have too many exotic fish, but their tanks are all extremely clean, and they are the only store I have ever been to that didn't have a single dead, diseased, or otherwise unhealthy fish.

Sandy's petshop also doesn't usually have too many exotic FW fish, but they have a very wide variety of SW fish and inverts.

The Petsmart on Hurstbourne has a pretty good selection of fish at very good prices (last time I was there, bgk's were on sale @ $8, and senegals @ $2), and they are usually pretty healthy, but the staff don't seem to be too knowledgeable.

Thanks drgnfrc13
