Is it true that leopoldi's are coming in Jan?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you are right i just find captive bred rays much easyer to work with

they feed much better than wild caught most will even take pellets they are not resl skinny when you get them

what i can see hear is people are hoping the ban is lifted so the prices drop well even if the ban is lifted i cant see any price drop happening as breeders will still be willing to pay the big $$$ for new wild stock

the days of getting leos for $500 are well gone just get used to it

I know that people will argue with me, but for those of you that have not owned a captive bred ray, you are really missing out.

For the average hobbyist, they are much easier to care for. They seem to grow faster, be more aggressive, eat better and be less prone to water quality problems.

I am sure that this has to do with the stresses wild caught, juvenile rays go through, but for the average hobbyist, there is no comparison.

Captive bred is the way to go. Guys like Mike, Brent, Dave, Pat, Todd, etc. are making it a lot easier for the average guy to keep some amazing animals.

yes those days are gone they will never be cheap again... look at who complains the most about the prices too americans... asia and europe don't they are willing to pay what ever.... don't bring the weak US dollar in this it has nothing to do with it... people need to get over it and if you want one just buy it.... don't have the money then get a better job or quit complaining every other week there is one of these stupid rumor threads and they keep going on after the rumor is confirmed to be false... its kinda like beating a dead horse

i also agree with this people moan about the price of black rays now but they are moaning about getting asian aros back in the US which will cost the same as a black ray if you want a black ray pay your money its as simple as that

bout time to close it looks like.. anyone else have anything they would like to contribute? Could we have a "last call" for this thread? hahah

not a last call. But I dont really mind the high price. Think how many black rays were imported into the USA? And how many are there now? Think it keeps alot of the noobs away from the rare stuff so they cant kill it. If they were cheap ever one would have them. And lots would die. So me for one dont mind the price if you really want it. The price doesn't matter.

That is complete BS. I know plenty of excellent fish keepers that cant afford a $50 fish.

My only problem is...

IF the ban was lifted with the same number of animals that were exported before the ban and the demand is the same ( I assume it is) then why wont the prices go down to what they were before? If the supply is the same and demand are the same as before then the price will be about the same.
